A Battle in the Heart and Mind

When have you ever decided to go against your values—against what you say you believe and know to be true? A way a person behaves is truly a reflection of what they really believe. When there is an inconsistency between what we say we believe and how we behave, something is wrong. We’re either living in sin, or we’re living in a way that demonstrates to others that we really don’t believe what we say we believe.

For instance, if I say God intended for marriage to be a faithful relationship between a man and a woman, and then I was unfaithful to Donna in our marriage, I would be a double-minded person. My actions would be inconsistent with what I say I believe.

People often call the Intentional Living show because they have a conflict going on between what they believe, and the decision they are about to make. When you say you believe something but you really want to do something that is contrary to that belief, it creates a disruption in your heart and mind. At the point of decision, you choose to either live an intentional life, or become unintentional. I believe when your life is not aligned with what you say you believe, you experience huge problems.

In that place of indecision, you try to make progress, but it often seems that you remain stuck, vacillating between what you say you believe and the action opposite to what you say you believe. It’s easy to be sucked back into an old pattern because it’s familiar. It’s comfortable.

So, how do you overcome that? Intentional Living helps you focus on the things that really matter most by encouraging you to choose that ONE THING that will propel you forward to become the person you really want to be.

You are constantly making decisions and it always comes back to what you believe and what you value. Your beliefs drive your values and your values drive your decisions. When you become committed to live your life obedient to God’s Word, then these decisions are a whole lot easier.

As you grow up in your faith, you have to decide if you’re going to be completely obedient to what the Bible teaches, or you’re not. It’s a decision only you can make.

Intentional ONE THING Challenge

If you could do ONE THING and know that it would make a significant, lasting, possibly life-changing difference in your life, would you do it? Dr. Carlson shares the power of ONE THING and why you should get started doing your ONE THING today.
