Today’s ProgramAfter Vietnam, many of the returning soldiers received very little respect when they came home. Dr. Randy talks to Vietnam vet Lewis Alston, who after finding Christ, now shows and gives respect to his fellow vets. And we’ll visit with a former Police Chief who talks about how we can show respect to those who serve us everyday on the streets of our cities and towns–our law enforcement officers. It’s on today’s Intentional Living. We’d love to hear from you! Join the Intentional Living conversation at 1-888-888-1717. Lewis AlstonLewis Alston was a marine in Vietnam. He came back to a country that didn’t thank him or welcome him and he started drinking. He lost his family and his way. On December 22, 1985, he woke up in the woods. He was scared to look around; he thought he might have hurt someone. He prayed, “God, I don’t want to keep living like this. If you will spare me, I will always look after vets.” Lewis has devoted all of his spare time to helping veterans in his community and state. He lives in Lancaster, PA, and is now retired. He is a chaplain, and does all sorts of things to help. He delivers meals, he helps vets find homes, he conducts funerals, he cleans cemeteries, he organizes motorcycle rides… and he shares his testimony. He intentionally helps veterans, and he teaches everyone to say, “Thank you for your service. Welcome home.”
