Do the Next Right One Thingby Dr. Randy Carlson The definition of success, from an Intentional Living point of view, is to act on what you know to be true until it becomes a reality in your life. Let’s look at just four key dimensions of life (I identify a total of nine in my book The Power of One Thing) and the next right One Thing you can do in each one: The power of One Thing to change your thinking
- You become what you think about most of the time. Your perspective becomes your reality, and your thinking can get you in trouble. Therefore, you need to challenge what you tell yourself. Try to “think twice and speak once.” One Thing: Take captive every thought to the obedience to Christ.
- The ruling passion generally conquers reason. There are several people who are “walking wounded” because the passions of their lives overtook them. People are in prison, have unplanned pregnancies, have abandoned their marriages – all because of the passions of their lives. One Thing: Behave with confidence in Christ. Have Him help you be in charge of your emotions instead of letting your emotions control you.
- Your thoughts become your words; your words become your actions; your actions become your habits; your habits become your character; and your character becomes your destiny. What you say is what you become. One Thing: Find a word of encouragement or truth from God’s Word that’ll speak a blessing into someone’s life and use it. For example, tell your kids, “I’m proud of you.”
- Simplicity is the key. Don’t allow the clutter in your life to keep you away from your priorities. One Thing: Choose something that needs to be removed from your life, and cut it out.
