You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set. (Psalm 104:19 NLT)
For the month of May, Dr. Randy Carlson is giving us, “Today’s Word for Your Life.” And as you can see from the above title, today’s word is SEASONS.
Dr. Randy Carlson quoted Ecclesiastes 3:1 for his video:
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. King Solomon, the author of Ecclesiastes, then goes on to talk about all the matters that go on under heaven and during the seasons.
Scripture talks about all the things that demarcate the seasons: the sun, moon, constellations, rains, weather and even the birds; all the things in creation that remind us of how God placed the seasons. But do we remember?
Even the stork that flies across the sky knows the time of her migration, as do the turtledove, the swallow, and the crane. They all return at the proper time each year. But not my people! They do not know the Lord’s laws. (Jeremiah 8:7 NLT)
Have you forgotten God’s laws? There are three things that should keep that happening:
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.” (Genesis 1:26)
Yet God made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. (Romans 1:19-20)
And yet somehow… we forget.
Perhaps we substitute: And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them. (Psalm 115:8)
Perhaps we take ourselves too seriously: They scoff and speak with malice; with arrogance they threaten oppression. Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tongues take possession of the earth. (Psalm 73:8-9 NIV)
Perhaps we marginalize the LORD: “What does God know?” they ask. “Does the Most High even know what’s happening?” (Psalm 73:11 NLT)
Today’s One Thing
Whether it’s knowing The One who created the seasons, or gave us His Law, or has revealed His Love to us through His Son, it’s all about love: Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:7-8 NIV) God Is Love.
