Today’s Word for Your Life Is “HOPE”
For the month of May, Dr. Randy is giving us, “Today’s Word for Your Life.” And as you can see from the above title, today’s word is HOPE.
I love the symbolism here—hope as an anchor for the soul. When I was a teenager, my parents and I went to the naval yard in Bremerton, Washington, and toured the USS Missouri. And to a kid, and even now, that is one, HUGE ship. You’d be right in thinking that to hold such a huge ship, you’d have to have huge anchors. Each one on this ship weighs 31,000 pounds.
Do you think the anchor God has designed for your soul would be as effective? Most definitely.
A few months ago, the staff of Intentional Living Center and Family Life Radio had the privilege and opportunity to call our donors, just to hear how they were doing during the pandemic, and to encourage and pray for them. Most of the time I end up with a voicemail, and the verse that I left was from Isaiah 43:
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name: you are mine. When you pass through waters, I will be with you; through rivers, you shall not be swept away. When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, nor will flames consume you. For I, the Lord, am your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your savior. (vs.1-3)
If you’re feeling like you’re passing through waters or walking thru fire, God is with you; you will not be swept away. You will not be burned nor will the flames consume you. Why? Two answers to that one question: YOU ARE MINE; and I AM YOUR SAVIOR. That’s how hope anchors your soul. That’s how hope makes you firm and secure,; because you belong to him, and he is your Savior.
Today’s One Thing:
We live in a fearful time, but God speaking through Isaiah to you and me says:
- I have redeemed you.
- I have called you by name.
- I will be with you.
- I, the Lord, am your God …your Savior.
All those personal pronouns reveal hope is personal. Hope is a person.
