Today’s Program

Freedom! For good reason we celebrate the independence formally declared on this day in 1776. But what about REAL freedom? That is only found in Christ (See John 8). Our founders knew this, so they were very intentional to begin the United States with a Judeo-Christian foundation. Author and historian Bill Federer joins Dr. Randy today to talk about Our Intentional Founders. And the late Rev. Peter Marshall will chime in on the subject, as well.
Today’s Guests
William J. Federer
Bill is a nationally known speaker, best-selling author, and president of Amerisearch, Inc., a publishing company dedicated to researching America’s noble heritage. Bill’s first book “America’s God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations” has sold over a half-million copies.
Link to Bill Federer’s daily email posting for July 4, Independence Day. Here is a portion of that posting, as he quotes John Adams who wrote a letter to his wife, Abigail, regarding the adoption of the Declaration: “You will think me transported with enthusiasm but I am not. I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure, that it will cost us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. Yet through all the gloom I can see the rays of ravishing light and glory. I can see that the end is more than worth all the means. And that Posterity will triumph in that Days Transaction, even although we should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not.”
Rev. Peter Marshall (1940-2010)
The late Rev. Peter Marshall (1940-2010) was a Presbyterian minister who for over forty years gained national recognition as a preacher on Christian growth and discipleship. Rev. Marshall was the son of the famous pastor, Peter Marshall, who served as the Chaplain of the Senate and whose biography. A Man Called Peter, was penned by his wife, Catherine Marshall.
Peter Marshall believed that it is impossible to restore America to its traditional moral and spiritual foundations unless we recover our original founding vision and the truth about America’s Christian heritage. How can we restore America if we don’t know what it is that we are restoring? Woodrow Wilson, President during World War I, put it succinctly when he stated: “A nation which does not remember what it was yesterday does not know what it is today, nor what it is trying to do.” And Karl Marx, the father of Communism, previewing the actions of Communist regimes in the 20th century, said: “Take away the heritage of a people, and they are easily persuaded.”
What (or Who) is at the foundation of your life? As our Founders understood the need for a “firm reliance” on God, we also know that our hope can only be built on Him, as well. You can find hope in Christ! Your relationship with Jesus is your most important One Thing. This booklet by Dr. Randy Carlson is free for you to download.]]>
