Tom was finishing his contract with the Army in Feb. 2012. He went out for a walk and passed out. It turned out he was suffering from heart disease. He had seven heart procedures, and doctors only gave him a 30 percent chance of living. “I was at peace whether I lived or died,” he said. His senior pastor and other members of his church prayed for a miracle. He went through one last nine-hour surgery and doctors told his wife he was out of danger. “When I came through, I knew God had worked a miracle in my life.” The second chance challenged him to take more time with his family.
